What the data says

The crash isn't showing up in the data (yet).
Since inception (27 June to 17 July 2026) the CYKI 100 is up +1.8% (level 101.77). Whatever the "resale is dead" headlines say, the 100 most-traded sneakers are flat-to-up over the last three weeks.
It's a market of sneakers, not a sneaker market.
In the week of 10 to 17 July alone: 47 of the 100 constituents rose, 40 fell, 13 were flat. Averages hide everything.
An 84-point spread in one week.
Best performer, week of 10 to 17 July: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star 70 Ox Comme des Garçons PLAY Black, +60.5% ($185 to $297). Worst: Nike Dunk Low Stranger Things Phantom, −23.4% ($274 to $210). Same market, same week.
Story angles
- The independent-index angle. Nobody else publishes a neutral sneaker market index — the marketplaces whose own listings and sales set resale prices have an obvious interest in what that number says.
- The market-correction angle. Independent, methodology-published data on the "is resale dead" debate — an actual index to cite instead of anecdote.
- The collector angle. StockX killed its Portfolio feature in March 2026 — collectors lost the one tool built to track what they hold. CYKI is the replacement nobody else built.
